Svyato-Voznesensky (Saint's Ascention) Hermitage» Excursion duration is 2.5 hours One of the highest points of the Bolshoi Solovetsky Island, the Sekirnaya (Pole-Axe) Mountain is the purpose of the tour; from its top there is a breathtaking view to the northern part of the Island and the White Sea. The excursion is devoted to the history and monuments of the Svyato-Voznesensky (Saint's Ascention) Hermitage which used to be a penalty isolator, a place where prisoners were Punished. Visitors will see the plants grown at different stages in the history of the Solovetsky Islands, monuments of the Makary Hermitage, and enjoy the beautiful view of the Solovetsky Monastery from the Aleksandrovskaya (Alexander's) Hill.
